This privacy policy covers the activities of Friends of Imperial College and its website and is correct as from 2nd October 2015 until further notice.

Friends is a registered charity based in the UK with the objective:

"To advance education for the public benefit in the latest developments in science, technology, engineering, medicine and business, by supporting the work of Imperial College London".

Providing visitors with anonymous access

You can access and browse our website without disclosing your personal data.

If you want to become a member and/or book tickets to our events you will have to register and provide personal data.

The services and links of our website

Our website does not enable our visitors to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others.

We allow attendees at events to upload photos to the website for sharing with other registered users.

We allow attendees at events to provide quotations about there experience at events that may be published on the website.

Our website does include links to third party web service providers.

Automatic collection of information

We automatically log personal data by means such as programming or we link information automatically logged by such means with personal data about specific individuals.

We do not collect information about our visitors from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations.

We do not collect or use personal data for any purpose other than that indicated in the table below.

We do not directly collect or directly use bank account or credit card details as these are collected and used by PayPal if a visitor chooses to pay by that option.

If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, we will offer you the means to consent to this new purpose on an online form.

Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Disclosure and Visitor Choice

We may disclose contact information to other parties for the purpose of notifying that party of visitors for an event organised by Friends, where requested to do so by that party and where the member or guest has registered to attend such an event.

We do not disclose your personal data to any other organisations.

Where we disclose your personal data for purposes which are different from those indicated in the table mentioned above, we will offer you the opportunity to consent to disclosure

Video and audio recordings may be made and published on the site or made available through other channels (eg YouTube). Persons attending an event where a recording is being made will be notified (e.g. a notice will be placed in an easily visible location such as entrance doorway) and those entering the room will be presumed to consent to being recorded.

Confidentiality and security

Visitors to our Web site can only use a secure transmission method to send us their personal data.

We have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from:

  • unauthorised modification
  • unlawful destruction or accidental loss

Our Administrator, and those Committee Members who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data.

You can access the data we hold about you online by logging into your account and viewing MyAccount and MyProfile

You can ask our administrator whether we are keeping personal data about you. Upon request, we will provide you with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you, within a week - although we may before require proof of your identity. We will provide the information without any charge.

We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate, you may have the data corrected or if necessary deleted.

We do not reserve the right to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data.

There are no global or regional regulatory or self-regulatory schemes applicable to our web site or organisation.
